Sport at St Euphemia College

Sport is an integral part of life at St Euphemia College, offering students from Kindergarten to Year 11 the opportunity to develop physical skills, foster teamwork, and build a lifelong love for health and fitness. Our inclusive approach ensures that students of all abilities can participate, promoting both individual achievement and collective spirit.

Through annual House Competitions, students represent one of four houses—Athena, Aphrodite, Apollo, and Zeus. These events encourage teamwork, friendly competition, and house pride. Highlights of the year include:

Swimming Carnival

Held in Term 1, this event allows students to contribute points to their house while competing in various swimming races.

Athletics Carnival

Taking place in Term 2, this day showcases students’ abilities in track and field events, with top performers advancing to external competitions

Regular physical activity supports both the physical and mental well-being of students. Our sports program helps develop strength, coordination, and resilience while enhancing social skills and self-confidence.

Throughout the year, students are offered a range of sports and recreational activities, ensuring everyone finds an activity they enjoy.

For students who excel in sports, St Euphemia College offers opportunities to compete in inter-school competitions and advance to higher levels. We proudly participate in:

• SWISSA (Secondary) and IPSSO (Primary) competitions

• Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia National Sports Event (GOAANSE)

Held in a different State each year, bringing our Australian Orthodox Colleges together annually

• Team sports

Including basketball, netball, soccer, touch football, AFL and volleyball

• Individual sports

Such as swimming, cross country, and athletics

Pathways for Excellence

Students with exceptional talent can progress to regional, state, and national competitions through:

• Association of Independent Co-Educational Schools (AICES)

• NSW Combined Independent Schools Sports Council (CIS)

• NSW All-Schools

Representing St Euphemia College is both an honour and a responsibility. Students are expected to demonstrate sportsmanship by competing with integrity, respecting officials and competitors, supporting their teammates, and wearing the school sports uniform with pride.
